Today our students, teachers, and chaperones visited the Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary. This is Northeast FL's longest operating sanctuary and home to 26 tigers, 3 lions, 8 cougars, 4 leopards, 2 bobcats, 2 coatimundis, and 1 white arctic fox named Chula.
After watching an introductory video, our group took a walking tour of the sanctuary, viewing the animals while our guide, Ms. Kim, told us about the eating, sleeping and playing habits of these magnificent felines. Some of the animals were playful with each other, some preferred to be in quiet solitude. Nero, a male Siberian tiger even came right up to the fence and posed, showing off his sleek stripes and giant paws.
The experience was informative and fun - our students had a great day.
